In 1986, a film was created that was one of the epitomes of perversion, in foreign horror (for its time).  From Midnight Video, comes a Belgian film that is as fucked up, as it is cheesy and enjoyable.  From director Johan Vandewoestijne:

Lucker the Necrophagous

This here is the sensitive story of John Lucker… the corpse fucker!  Before spending several years in a deep coma, brought on by slitting his own throat, John brutally killed and raped 8 women, and lost one.  What a fuck up that was, I mean, if you’re gonna do it, do it right man!

Well, back to where I was… after spending years in the coma, Johnny boy has finally awakened, just to continue where he left of so many years ago.  John brutally murders the hospital staff that was watching over him, in his attempt to escape the hospital.  His attempt is triumphant!

While visiting a local video store, he notices a face on the news… the face of his escaped, should have been victim, Cathy Jordan.  Being the authorities caught on pretty quickly to Johns escape, he is now being hunted as well as on the hunt.  Watch your ass Cathy, Lucker is pissed!

Continuing his murderous ways, John runs into a young prostitute, whom he takes into captivity in order to have some real fun.  After hand cuffing her to a bed and killing her, John waits for her body to rot before he can really have his way.  We wouldn’t want them fresh now, would we?  I guess there is something about the smell and sliminess of dead flesh that is a pure aphrodisiac to our friend John.

The killing continues, in random patterns and sometimes, seeming as if people to kill were just thrown in to the mix, some how!  Complete with a make out scene between a corpse head and a pretty young captive (of course, a forced make out session, I don’t think she wanted to kiss the head, judging by her reaction, haha), John finds himself closer to the thing he has been wanting the most, the brilliant escape artist, Cathy.

When John finally catches up to her, you know… the one that got away, as they say, he shows her his brutal intentions by way of murdering his young captive, for her viewing pleasure of course.  But our friend Lucker has no luck keeping this one tied down.

In Cathys daring, second escape, she finds herself in a fright filled cat and mouse chase.  But who will be the last one standing this time around?  Will it be the cat, or the mouse?

Ratings:

For the Direction and screen play, I give a 5.  This film was very fun to watch, but definitely not for everyone.  Lucker was indeed an extremely cheesy film, not very well written or directed.  But like I say, if you like it… who gives a rats’ ass, how cheesy it is!

For the acting, I definitely have to give the same as above a 5.  The acting in the film was absolutely terrible, but purely enjoyable.  Lucker was definitely convincing, as he looked like a sick fucker.  The one problem is I saw this film dubbed in English.  If I understood French or Dutch (not sure, as they speak both in Belgium) and saw it in its original language, it may have not been as bad in the acting department as I found it to be.  But I seriously doubt it.

For the cinematography I give a 5 as well.  Very poorly filmed, and with no real different angles and views, just straight on shots, this was a stand still film to the very end.  But I will say this, I viewed this film copied from VHS to DVD, so the look of the film may have been a lot cleaner than it appeared, but again, I seriously doubt it.  Let’s wait and see what Synapse films can do with this one, being that they are re-releasing it.

As for the gore and makeup, I give an 8.  I found the corpse to be absolutely disgusting, ranking up there amongst the Necromantik 1 and 2 corpses.  The blood and butchery was plentiful, just the way I like it.  In ways this made up for a lot in this film.

The score was bad as well, I give it a 3.  Not much to say, it just wasn’t any good.

Overall I give Lucker the Necrophagous a 7.  Not exactly top shelf shit here, but enjoyable none the less.  For any gore hound looking for a good time and, as of right now, a rare film, I do recommend this for your collections.
