In 2001, an independent film company called
"In Hell Productions", run by
Vince Roth & Mick Nards, released
their first 15 minute fucked flick of
sickening proportions.
Nekro
For a while I had
heard about this, extremely short, sick film
through many online friends. Finally
after almost 2 years of hunting, I received
a nice clear copy of the film from an
un-known source (I think I prefer it
that way).
Starting off with
your basic abduction, a strange hooded man
drags a bound woman up the stairs of a
seemingly dingy home. He then proceeds
to toss her into an empty room, with the
exception of a plastic tarp covering the
floor. He then leaves her there, alone
in the room, locking the door behind him.
Upon his return, the woman is brutally
murdered, and then the killer (Mick
Nards) performs horrific,
pornographic, sexual acts to the lifeless
bloodied and mangled corpse.
Whilst injecting
this mind poison into my DVD player, I
definitely did not, completely, know what to
expect, accept for the fact that I knew I
was about to view something totally and
completely fucked up. Again, this is all
coming from things I have read and the
opinions of others.
I was never one for
short films, for what reason, I'm not quite
sure, but after viewing Nekro,
I must say I think I may have changed my
opinion of them, somewhat. If in 15
minutes time a film can mortify and disgust
me, its ok in my book.
I mentioned before
about the film being mind poison. In
saying that I meant so in the way that it is
a brief tour through the depraved world of
murder and the perversion of necrophilia.
To be quite honest I loved the film, if you
can somehow get your hands on it, I highly
recommend it.
Visually the film
was great. The graininess, as I always
say, adds to the realism and the sickness of
the film, especially when it comes to horror
and exploitation. Camera angles were
not fantastic and quite basic, but this
being there first crack, ill cut some slack.
For visual quality and filming, I give this
short a 6.
As for the sound,
it was a bit too strange for me, too artsy,
if that makes any sense. A droning
woman's voice and repetitive sound FX really
made me want to mute the TV for most of the
film. On that note, sound and whatever
else, sound FX wise I give a 5.
Now as for
perversion and gore, I would have to say
that it was pretty well done for a film of
its caliber. The murder sequences were
not really shown, but still give the viewer
the sense of the brutality that lay before
them. As for the perversion of the
film, it was almost sickening, yet quite
enjoyable. The gore was done on a low
scale, not really seen but during the scenes
of necrophilia, there was plenty of blood
and guts. For Perversion and gore this
film gets a definite 8.
Nekro gets my overall rating of a 7.
This film is a
definite for those extreme, sick fuckers
amongst you gore hounds. If you
enjoyed films such as (Nekromantic
1 & 2,
Stethoscope, and even such Asian
extremes such as Womens Flesh
and Psycho: The Snuff Reels).
This one belongs on your shelf.
